Ever since the announcement of the Panchayat elections in West Bengal, incidents of violence, unrest, and sabotage in various parts of the state have persisted. The latest incident involves allegations of assault and vandalism at the residence of a Trinamool Congress leader in the Bhangad area of South 24 Parganas on Monday night.
Late at night, attacks were reported at the house of Qutubuddin Ali Sheikh, a Trinamool leader in Chaltaberia village. It is claimed that Indian Secular Front (ISF) activists were responsible for the attack, which reportedly involved the throwing of bombs. The police, upon reaching the site, recovered bomb components and initiated an investigation. However, no arrests have been made thus far.
Qutubuddin had visited the BDO office of Bhangar number two block on Monday to file his nomination, following a call from controversial Trinamool Congress leader Arabul Islam. Upon returning late at night and while resting, stone-pelting and bombarding began, prompting Qutubuddin to inform the Kashipur police station.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, IAF MLA Naushad Siddiqui stated that no one should attack Trinamool workers and leaders. However, he highlighted the reality of internal factionalism within the Trinamool Congress, stating that its members are engaging in acts of violence against each other.
